Aloe arborescens - the plant
Aloe arborescens is a plant species from the genus of aloes (Aloe) in the subfamily of the Asphodeloideae. The specific epithet arborescens is derived from the Latin word arbor for 'tree' and refers to the tree-like appearance of the species.

In the recipe according to Father Zago, however, only the aloe leaf (I) is used, which is thoroughly cleaned beforehand for the preparation and then the spines on the sides are removed.
